This is another solid team from UNM, with some students who have HPC book learning, but others who were in previous competitions, both Winter Classic and SC events. They also have members who are working in HPC positions outside the university.
At the time of the interview, that experience and their commitment to HPC is paying off in a big way. They won LINPACK, albeit by fractions of a point, but slipped to fifth in HPCG. Overall, they finished that first module in second place – and skillfully hid any reaction to hearing that news. They recovered on the crash course exam, finishing third, and holding onto their number two slot.
We finish up with a discussion of their future plans (employers pay attention) but this is a very tired group of students who need some serious sleep time. Keep pushing, Roadrunners
