This is the second year that Texas Tech University has formed a Red Raiders team for the Winter Classic. It’s an interesting team, all seniors, with a couple of entrepreneurs who have written their own apps, but didn’t have VC’s toss them millions of dollars in cash, awwws… The other two students are interested in web dev, along with other stuff.

Before the competition, the students were mostly aware of HPC, but hadn’t considered it as a possible career path. They’ve found that there’s a steep learning curve, but as one said, “it’s pretty fun once you get over the hurdle of getting it all set up.” The highpoint for the team was winning LINPACK, but it’s been tough sledding since then.
