Jackson State University is a first time competitor in the Winter Classic. Founded in 1877, it is a public HBCU with 47 undergraduate and 50 graduate programs serving 4,763 students. Their cluster competition team is on the small side with only three students, a senior and two juniors.

As a new team, they’re an unknown quantity, but the school offers a full slate of computer science courses – including Parallel Processing, Compiler Construction, and Advanced Computer Architecture, so the students will have some useful background for the competition.
